On October 28, 2024, the Student Literary Association (SLA) of RKMVERI-GAPEY organized a guest lecture on "Food Plans for Speedy Recovery from Sports Stress and Injuries" at the GAPEY Multipurpose Hall. The session featured Dr. K. Pavithra, an Ayurveda expert from AVP Herbal Garden, Palakkad, as the resource person.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The event began with a prayer, followed by a welcome address by Dr. S. Sakthivel, SLA coordinator. He highlighted Dr. Pavithra’s expertise in sports nutrition and her research work on natural, herbal approaches to recovery.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The session also featured an engaging Q&A, where participants were able to interact directly with resource person and gain deeper insights into the role of nutrition in injury recovery. This interactive segment was particularly appreciated by the attendees for its practical relevance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Following the lecture, Mr. Rajavarman S, SLA Joint Coordinator, presented Dr. Pavithra with a token of appreciation in recognition of her invaluable guidance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Tanugatri Majumder, our Ph.D. Scholar (Batch-2023) in the Department of Sports Science and Yoga, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Belur Math, has been awarded an international research grant from the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Alongside this, she is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at the Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The grant, amounting to USD 8,700, is designated for one of her Ph.D. research projects titled, "Indian Badminton Athletes’ Menstrual Cycle: Health, Changing Perceptions, and Performance-Determining Psycho-Physiological Variables Across Different Phases"<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Simply Sports Foundation, Bengaluru, will also collaborate for operational purposes, providing logistical and fieldwork support, thereby facilitating specific activities during the research process.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Professor Hanno Felder from Germany, Head of Science and Research at the Olympic Training Center and University of Applied Sciences, Saarbrücken, will coordinate the project, offering his expert guidance throughout the research process. Additionally, one of her Ph.D. research supervisors, Professor Øyvind B. Sandbakk (Norwegian School of Elite Sports and the Arctic University of Norway), and Dionne A. Noordhof (subject expert from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology) has been instrumental in providing consistent guidance and valuable insights throughout the course of her research.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The project aims to investigate Indian female badminton players' menstrual cycle (MC)-related health, perceptions, and psycho-physiological variables across different phases. It will try understanding the performance-determining variables across MC-phases, while also exploring MC-related perspectives of elite Indian players and their coaches. Swami Garishthanandaji Maharaj, Administrative Head of RKMVERI, Coimbatore Campus, and Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, delivered the introductory address. Swami Kaleshanandaji Maharaj, Registrar of RKMVERI, presented the University's profile through virtual mode. The Convocation address was delivered by Padmashri Dr. Sudarshan H., Right Livelihood Awardee (Alternate Nobel Prize), Social worker, Tribal Rights Activist, and Founder of Karuna Trust, Bangalore, Karnataka. <\/p>\r\n\r\n Following this, Revered Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and Chancellor of RKMVERI, Belur, Kolkata, delivered the Chancellor’s Address through virtual mode. The pledge was administered by Revered Swami Atmapriyanandaji Maharaj, Pro-Chancellor of RKMVERI, Belur, through virtual mode, followed by vote of thanks proposed by Dr. N.
